Oasis Dating – Free Dating Site Review

Free as in Free?
Oasis Dating is a free internet dating site that’s actually, well, free! So many dating sites make great claims to be free yet aren’t much use until you’ve signed up for the full membership plan they like to keep reminding you about – Zoosk anyone? So it’s refreshing to find a site that does exactly what it says it will without any underhand attempts to get to your cash.

The down side – adverts
That’s the price of a totally free dating site, what you’re saving in cash costs you in advertising real estate. Each page carries four large banners and some Google text links. You might barely notice them once you’ve created your profile – or they’ll be a constant distraction – either way it’s the general pay off with most free dating sites.

Signing up and Creating your Profile
Oasis has one of the easiest and quickest sign ups we’ve tried. Once you’ve created a username and entered your email address you’re taken to one page where you can enter some information about yourself and select a few drop down answers to the standard questions about wanting kids, height, drinking etc. Then you can upload a photo or more. Be sure to not leave your introductory text too small though as the profile has to be approved before it goes live and if it’s on the empty side you’ll have to add some more to your description then re-submit it. Once your profile and photos are approved you should be up and running in no time and you’re free to browse the site while they’re being approved too.

Searching for your match on Oasis
A big plus for Oasis is that it’s got a large user base so chances are there should be a decent amount of members near you. You can search by location, distance, age range and the results come back in order of their recent activity, profiles also mention when a member was last online which gives you a realistic idea of how busy the site is. Despite the adverts the site is easy to use and searching is fast and painless.

Oasis Dating Profiles
Did we mention the ads? Yes, they’re still here but if you can overlook them again the profile pages on Oasis are simple and intuitive. You can send a flirt, add a note, or contact a member through the messaging system. There’s also an alert box in the top right that makes a little sound when someone views your profile, messages you or comes online – you can change the alert settings so you’re only notified of things you want – it’s a nice feature though that keeps things fun and interesting as you move around the site. As well as your main profile picture (which is optional but recommended) you can add several more gallery photos which you can make public or private. There’s also a box on the right where you can see a list of all your contacts on the site.

Conclusion
If you’re looking for a serious relationship then we recommend trying the best paid for dating sites like Match or eHarmony as they have much more members to search from and people often invest more time in building their profile when it’s cost them something. However, if you’re feeling the pinch financially then you might be able to make a site like Oasis Dating work for you if you’re prepared to put the work in to find someone you might be compatible with. If you can handle the ads then the site’s fun and easy to use and it really is free!
