Is it worth subscribing?

Head on over to our match.com review for our honest opinion about match.com. In a nutshell, yes, we’ve reviewed dozens of UK dating sites and we think match.com will give you the best overall chance of finding a potential date.

Match also do an impressive job of weeding out fake profiles and time wasters (a big problem in internet dating) so the quality of profiles and people looking for a genuine relationship are much higher than most. match.com isn’t perfect (sometimes the location search can be a bit off) but it in our opinion it deserves it’s position as the UK’s most popular dating site.

While £29.99 for a one month subscription isn’t cheap if you’re not in any hurry to get out fast then the 6 month offer of £12.99 a month is very good value. Taking out a longer subscription also takes the pressure off trying to find someone compatible within 30 days. You can take your time, go on a few dates and get a better feel for who might be a good match based on real life meet ups rather than online guessing.

Benefits of subscribing:
Send & read emails & instant messages
Can use match.com smartphone app
See who likes you
See what other members are looking for
Hide unwanted profiles from view
See your winks sent history
Priority customer care

Can I use match.com for free?

We’d recommend everyone to sign up for match.com for free to get a feel for the site and the amount of potential matches in your area before paying for a subscription.

Another plus to the free account is, unlike eHarmony, match.com lets you view members photos even if you don’t have a subscription yourself.

The flipside to that is you won’t be able to message that person you like (or read their messages to you) until you subscribe yourself. So register for free first and see what you think, you’re under no obligation to upgrade if you choose not to.

match.com prices 2013: optional upgrades

match.com also offers a couple of optional subscription upgrades (in addition to your usual subscription fees). In our opinion most people will get by just fine on the regular subscription.

Saying that finding out if someone’s read your messages is a handy feature (for the more paranoid among us!) while being able to contacted by non members could be handy too. But if a non member likes the look of your profile enough you’d kind of hope they’d be willing to subscribe to contact you anyway.

If you combine the two upgrades together you’ll save £1.95 over buying them separately. Here’s what your extra £15 will get you:

Connect upgrade: £9.95 a month
Let non members contact you for free
Be among first profiles shown to new members
Lets members know they can CONNECT with you
Select upgrade: £6.90 a month
Find out of someone’s read your messages
Unavailable mode for instant messaging
Activate your absence manager
Or get both upgrades for £14.90 a month
Payment options

You can pay via Paypal or credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Diners Club).

The 1, 3 and 6 month subscriptions are paid in one off payments but the 6 month subscription also has a payment plan option of £25.98 for 3 months if that suits you better.

Auto renewal and cancelling your match.com subscription

Once you decide to subscribe be aware that match.com (like most dating sites) will auto renew your subscription at whatever plan you signed up on. So if you take out the 1 month option for £29.99, you’ll be auto renewed the following month for £29.99.

If you don’t intend to renew your subscription then you have to phone match on 020 305 96 492 at least 48 hours before your subscription is due to expire to inform them you wish to stop the automatic renewal. For more information check out our earlier article on how to cancel a match.com subscription.

match.com prices 2013 – Conclusion

So that’s the lowdown on current match.com prices 2013, it’s maybe not the cheapest dating site around but the financial investment of its members allows it to maintain a high level of quality control and makes for a genuinely useful site to find a potential match no matter where you’re based in the UK. Online dating can be quite a numbers game so it makes sense to go to the site with the widest range of members. All the best if you decide to join!
